For the XLE base trim and the Limited upgraded trim, the car comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor that works with three electric motors and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). For the top-level Platinum trim, the equipment under the hood is upgraded with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder Hybrid Max powertrain that works with an electric motor that sits on the rear axle. The Platinum model puts out an impressive 340 horsepower.
For fuel economy, the 2023 Toyota Crown is rated at an impressive 42 mpg city and 41 mpg highway for the base XLE and upgrade Limited trims. Drivers who choose to upgrade to the Platinum trim will enjoy 29 mpg city and 32 mpg highway due to the more impressive powertrain. All models of the Toyota Crown are rated as Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (SULEV).
